Theatre Trip to NYC - 2016
This trip tested our grit as we left comfortable "hoodie" weather here in Los Altos, to bundle up in New York's single digit temperatures. We had one of our largest contingents yet. We, once again, attended the Broadway Student Summit and were treated to master classes taught by cast and production members from Broadway's Fiddler on the Roof. The students cheerfully danced and sang to "Tradition" and learned some important audition techniques from casting directors. Outside of the workshop, the students got to see the 2016 "Best Musical" Tony Nominated production of School of Rock. A talk-back was arranged with Best Actor Nominee , Alex Brightman and some of his younger castmates. We also saw amazing productions of Fiddler on the Roof, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time, and Fun Home. We were also able to get a tour of New World Stages, an off-broadway multi-theatre complex where we were also treated with a performance of the improv-filled who-dunnit, Shear Madness. We were also able to tour the rest of the city with visits to Rockefeller Center, The Empire State Building, Radio City Music Hall, and The Metropolitan Museum. Despite all of these great places we visited, one of the highlights was the impromptu snowball fights throughout the city!
