Rome and Frascati Tour
In 2012, the Pinewood choirs were once again invited by Youth Music of the World to participate in another music festival over Winter break. This time the students packed up and headed to Rome, Italy. The week long trip was filled with many memorable performances in many churches and venues throughout Rome and in areas around, including a Roman theater in Pompeii. As amazing as that was, nothing compared to the opportunity to sing a mass in The Papal Basilica of St. Peter in the Vatican. Other highlights included a tour of the Basilica and the Sistine Chapel, as well as a trip to Pompeii, the Colisseum, The Forum, the Catacombs of San Callisto, and a breathtaking walking tour that took us through the city to see the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon. After a New Year celebration in the hotel followed by fireworks in the piazza, we all headed to the Vatican the next morning to witness the Papal blessing for the New Year. The choirs then headed up to Frascati to perform in their New Year music festival which included marching bands from around the globe.
